COAGThe global dairy sector’s important role in employment generation will be discussed during a Global Dairy Platform (GDP) side event on 4 June during FAO’s Committee on Agriculture (COAG) Sub-Committee on Livestock, which will hold its Fourth Session this week at the FAO Headquarters in Rome.

The session, titled “Value Addition and Employment Generation through Sustainable Dairy Transformation,” can be attended in-person or virtually from 12:15-13:30 Rome time on 4 June. You can follow the meeting virtually through this link.

The GDP side event will explore how the dairy sector serves as a significant driver of employment across farming, processing, logistics, retail, and related services. It will include a keynote presentation on available evidence, followed by a panel discussion on how policy and investment priorities can better support employment generation through sustainable dairy transformation.

Speakers include FAO Livestock Economist Ugo Pica-Ciamarra; Nigeria Representative to FAO Dr. Yaya Olaitan Olaniran; Arla Foods International Head of Sustainability Irene Mortensen; and GDP Executive Director Donald Moore.
