Study Shows Dairy’s Sustainability Strength

The sustainability of dairy milk vs. plant-based beverages has been a consistent conversation in scientific circles, and our April Global Dairy Platform Perspective Paper Series (found here) explores the topic with findings from a recent study. In short, when nutrition, socioeconomics and the environment are considered, semi-skimmed milk is a more sustainable choice than plant-based beverages. The article also notes the complications of recommending foods based on single metrics and makes a compelling case for why environmental factors alone should not determine the sustainability of a product.

The GDP Perspective Papers highlight recent research on health, nutrition and sustainability issues impacting the dairy sector. If you have questions and/or topics you’d like us to address, contact Beth.Bradley@GlobalDairyPlatform.com
